Fractional CMO · Melbourne

A Head of Marketing. Without the full-time hire.

A Fractional CMO is a senior marketing leader embedded in your business part-time. They own the strategy, manage the execution, and report directly to you. Everything a full-time Head of Marketing does, at a fraction of the cost.

From $4,500 / month · Minimum 3 months
Who this is for

This engagement works when the business is ready for senior thinking.

You're generating revenue but marketing feels reactive
The business is working but marketing is a series of disconnected tasks. There's no annual plan, no clear ownership, and no way to know what's driving growth.
You've outgrown an agency but aren't ready for a full-time hire
Agencies manage campaigns. They don't own strategy or manage across channels. A full-time Head of Marketing costs $160K or more. You need the thinking, not the overhead.
You're scaling and need marketing to keep pace
New locations, new products, or a growing team. Marketing infrastructure that worked at 10 people breaks at 30. You need someone who has scaled before.
You need someone who can talk to the board and do the work
Most senior marketers present strategy and delegate execution. This engagement covers both. Reporting to leadership, and building the HubSpot workflow.
This is not for you if
You want someone to manage a single channel You're looking for a content creator or social media manager You need a one-off campaign with no strategic context
What's included

Marketing strategy and annual planning
A 12-month marketing plan tied to business targets. Channel priorities, budget allocation, campaign calendar, and KPIs that connect to revenue.
Agency and supplier management
Brief, manage, and hold accountable your digital agency, SEO provider, designers, and other suppliers. You stop being the bridge between them.
CRM, digital, and campaign oversight
Hands-on oversight of HubSpot or GoHighLevel, Google Ads, Meta, SEO, and email. Not just reporting on it — actually fixing what is not working.
Board and leadership reporting
Monthly marketing reports built for leadership. Clear on what is working, what is not, and what the next 30 days look like.
Team building and capability uplift
Hire the right people. Build the internal capability. Set up the systems so the business is not dependent on one person for everything.
AI and technology integration
Practical AI applied to marketing workflows. Automated reporting, lead nurture, content generation, and performance dashboards that run without manual effort.

Common questions

Answered directly.

How many hours per month does this involve?
It depends on the scope, but a typical engagement runs 8 to 16 hours per month. That covers a weekly working session, ongoing direction via Slack or email, agency oversight, and monthly reporting. More intensive scopes are available.
Do you work with other suppliers and agencies?
Yes. I manage and brief your existing suppliers, or help you find better ones. Part of the value is ensuring you are getting the right work from the right people, and that they are being held accountable.
What industries do you work with?
Retail, franchise, professional services, and trades. My track record is strongest in multi-location businesses and founder-led companies going through a growth phase.
What if the business needs more support than the retainer covers?
We adjust the scope. If a campaign build, CRM migration, or website project comes up that sits outside the retainer, we scope it separately at a fixed price.
How does this compare to hiring a marketing agency?
An agency manages execution in their area of specialisation. They do not own strategy, manage other suppliers, report to the board, or build the CRM. A Fractional CMO does all of that. In many cases, having a Fractional CMO actually makes your agencies perform better, because someone is holding them to account.
What does the minimum 3 months mean?
The first month is diagnostic and planning. The second month is when execution begins. The third month is when you start seeing the impact. Three months is the minimum to do meaningful work. Most clients stay for 6 to 12 months.
